CAD VX2 Dual valve condenser microphone mic
2 OPTEMA capsules: OS-125 and an OS-110, (faster and brighter).
Each side of the capsule has its own dedicated valve, head/output amplifier and transformer.
Very low noise floor.
3 polar patterns: cardioid, omni & figure 8
Extraordinary frequency response extending below 10 Hz.
Analog power supply
It can be fitted with a 24 bit digital output module with 32 to 96kHz sampling rates(this module is not included).
This mic is extremely rare and is in "as new" condition.
Included are: 2 capsules, power supply, ZM2 shock mount, original case with the original cables, warranty certificate, frequency response charts and manual.
Everything in excellent condition.
I have been a recording engineer/producer for more than 40 years and this is one the greatest microphones I've ever used.

I compared the two CAD capsules to a reference Neumann M147, and the smaller OS110 capsule came across as the ‘brighter’ of the two, but perfectly acceptable in its own right. In fact, both capsules had that slightly larger-than-life character common to large-diaphragm mics, and compared very favourably with the big Neumann…
The bottom line is that the VX2 sounds absolutely fabulous — even if you couldn’t see it, the sound would still let you know about its close-to-two-grand asking price! [£1949 or $2249 as of 1999-2000] It has all the warmth, and character that seem to make large-diaphragm valve mics so special.

The VX2 sounded better than my U89 or C412s on the girls. The VX2 does a very nice job (IMO) of splitting the difference between the warmth of the Neumann and the brightness of the AKGs.
