I proudly present to you a classical guitar by Barcelona luthier Ignacio Fleta & Sons #954. Fleta was an accomplished luthier of various bowed instruments. In 1955, after hearing Andres Segovia, he decided to concentrate almost entirely on the construction of guitars. Soon, Andres Segovia, John Williams and several other concert artists started to use Fletas and the name Fleta was established as one of the greatest guitar makers of the modern era. Since passing away of the father Ignacio in 1977, his sons Francisco and Gabriel continue to construct Fleta guitars with the longest waiting list in the classical guitar world.
This Guitar's first owner was a Frenchman who taught guitar in a conservatory in Paris. He placed his order with Ignacio in 1973 and waited twenty years to get his guitar in 1993. But during the waiting period he has moved toward early music playing vihuela and smaller guitars with spruce tops and ended up not playing this guitar very much. Eventually he sold the guitar to me.
Since then, I took excellent care of the guitar storing in a climate-controlled room along with all other musical instruments. The guitar is in excellent plus condition with an exception of filled 1st string burn at the bridge. (see picture) Everywhere else is in mint condition.
This guitar is built with
Finest cedar & Indian rosewood
Scale length: 650mm Width at nut: 52mm
9 fan bracing with thick cedar
The sound is gorgeous with great depth and richness to each note. It also has great volume and sustain. This sound is warm, long, sweet and has that charming almost human voice like Fleta sound. If you want to hear a clip of the Fleta, do search in Amazon.com for Ernesto Bitetti or Marcelo Kayath, or the first John Williams. But, I strongly recommend that you visit me in Savona (Italy) to play the instrument.
